Satellite Stress

Happy Halloween! I've been pretty busy as of late. My senior project for my University is to develop and create a Cube Satellite to be launched into lower earth orbit preferably some time next year. I can't get into the details of what we're doing online, but I'm party of the R&D team for the payload, and we just have hit a bit of a snag in that further progression involves knowing a LOT of Electrical Engineering (EE), and everyone on our team is a Mechanical Engineer (ME). So I have one weekend to practically get my bachelors in all things Electrical, and report my findings to my superior. Lovely. So that's my Halloween party. Sitting in my bed with tea, a beat up lab notebook next to me, torrenting textbooks at the speed of light, and a fan blowing on me (It's ridiculously hot in my apartment)

Halloween wasn't a complete bust though. I went to a haunted house with Martha, Miakoda, Mary and Aisha about a week ago and it was terrifying! Basically, they just put you in a dark maze (and was I wearing the wrong shoes for that shit, lol), and you wander around while the employees leap out at you from random corners in really scary outfits screaming at you. So, of course, you can't help but scream back. They had automated ghosts, and I heard there was supposed to be a chainsaw guy, but I guess he was on lunch. At the end of the night, my throat was so sore! DX but it was well worth it.
We went to IHOP afterwards and practically everyone ate the Pumpkin Pancake special. So good...I shouldn't be writing about food since I haven't had breakfast yet... it's just making me hungry.

Light dance

A rare lolita sighting, the camera-less girl is often found in front of splotchy mirrors in the dark, taking advantage of every light source she can find.

I'm as tired as I look. I have a Fluid Dynamics Quiz tomorrow and all I want to do is drink Naked Juice and listen to Renee Olstead in bed. Running off of 2 hours of sleep and procrastination.

Frotastic

I'm growing out my hair to be a huge fro. It came to me after being in Philadelphia and seeing this girl with a huge fro running down the street. It was flopping all over the place, and I just thought "I want that!" So I chopped off all my relaxed hair in January and am PATIENTLY WAITING for it to get large enough to look cool. It's taking so long though! It's already October! What I didn't realize was that it takes forever to get a fro big enough to do anything cool with, because the hair shrinks up. So in essense you could have waist length straight hair and it would still shrink up to a tiny shoulder length fro depending on the type of hair you have. Unless you blow it out, or otherwise halfway straighten it. My hair is about shoulder length straightened, and that leads to a pretty pathetic fro, so its in hiding mode for the winter. By next summer, it should be a bit bigger and I'll see how it goes then.

In the meantime, I've been looking at different blogs for inspiration so that I don't get frustrated and just straighten, or dye my hair (which I'm super tempted to, but it gets really dry in winter and I'm really lazy about spending that much time with it). I have to look at blogs because there is not that much inspiration on the street. Most people who I see are either relaxed or they have dreads. Which is kind of understandable, I'm in pixie braids right now because dealing with all that bed hair is not cool after just waking up and realizing that you have about 15 minutes to get ready and run for the school bus. But once it gets really big? FRO LITAAAAAAAA. Seriously, I love the idea of this. I get that the esthetics of Lolita are very Euro-向け but when have I ever cared about that? I want to have a large fro, wear Baby the stars shine bright and then slap a bow on the side of it. It seems that Angelic pretty actually did do something similar with their infamous "Poodle hair", and although those were actually pretty laughable, it was cool because I like the idea of big hair along with the silhouette of a cupcake skirt. It flows better, looks more interesting. In th meantime I found this awesome blog called Lecoil that shows off different people's natural hair (mostly in New York City). Inspirationnnn~

Do Want dresses and Mori gal

There are often large amounts of time that pass while I pay no attention to what is coming out in lolita. Most of the time this coincides when I have no money. I have a bit of a spending problem, I spend when I'm unhappy, and as this is often, I think most of my lolita wardrobe was purchased in a depression.

Of course now that I'm paying attention again, the brands are coming out with cute things!
For example:Atelier Pierrot is coming out with this beauty, and I just wish I still had the amount of money I was getting when I was a co-op because this would be mine in an instant. Baby is also coming out with adorable things. I missed Vampire Requiem (;o;), but apparently Aatp which I love, is coming out with Beardsley Alice Rose:On the far right in black, of course. I find that my days of really drooling over pink and sweet stuff are kind of over. I now prefer darker colors, gothic, classic, and elegant styles over the OTT sweet. Even AP is joining in the "do want" party with their Wonder Trip Regimen (short for Regimental Stripe, I suppose):
Gorgeous! Time to save, I suppose. I'm trying to stock up on jsks and less skirts
because honestly, 90% of my lolita wardrobe are skirts and I hate blouses, so how does that work?

I looked up what morigal was today. I honestly think I was left out of the loop because I was confused. It seems to be more like bohemian? It looks nice when paired with lolita. Although to be honest, if I were to adopt it, I think I would prefer to look like I emerged from a swamp than the forest. Very Tia Dalma-esque. Ever since she appeared in that movie, I've loved how she looked. Like a colonized vaudoun priestess, which I suppose would just be yet another subcategory of goth? Who knows. All I'm saying is that I don't want to look as if I've come from just any forest if you know what I mean. It looks nice on others though. Just not me. I don't think I make a very convincing "fairy". Ha.

Nobody wants to hear you sing about Tragedy

First post!

Today was hat day at work. Ok, It wasn't really, but I walked in to find my coworkers all sporting large sombreros. Of course I had to ask "What the fuck", and found out that the new taco bell on my campus was giving them out! This led to:

Disheveled sombrero rei (I look a mess in this lol but I don't care)

I upgraded to windows 7 today! And now none of my Fn keys work! Damn you Sony, hurry up with the drivers! Apparently they have them on their ftp site but that's a whole lot of work for just waiting 2 weeks for it to come out officially. Finally I can escape the mediocrity that was Vista Home Premium...

I think my Japanese has gotten pretty bad....I used to be very good at reading, but lately I've been reading 狼と香辛料(Spice and Wolf), but I now have to use my DS dictionary to look up a lot more words than I used to. And some of these
kanji I used to know. I've gotten very out of practice... It's kind of hard because when I read light novels I have to get into the "groove" of it? I need total silence. Or at least, total silence in English. So of course, every time I settle down to read a page, someone starts speaking to me in English, throwing me completely off. I guess my brain can only process one language at a time (particularly when I've had so little practice in it). I will admit that the DS Kanji dictionary I use now is so much better than my old Canon Electronic Dictionary, and I paid like $125 for that lol. Go figure. The ability to draw the kanji helps 10 fold, I don't have to deal with the whole "radicals" nonsense.

I actually had a pretty depressing post about the failure of a Job Fair that I attended, but I don't feel like talking about it now.
